Lee County Government provides services to the 600,000 residents of Lee County and its cities in Florida. The County was struggling to keep up with IT while serving the community and wanted to provide more online services to the residents. It also needed to reduce operational costs. Lee County selected Atos in an IT outsourcing agreement to solve these challenges.
The Business Challenge
Overseen by the five-member Board of County Commissioners, Lee County Government provides services to the 600,000 (and growing) residents of southwest Florida’s Lee County and its cities. The County was struggling to keep up with serving the community that was experiening an explosive population growth and wanted to ensure that IT and online services meets the needs and would contiue to serve the residents.
Our Solution
Atos serves as Lee County’s IT advisor and manages the Program Management Office to provide consulting services. Additionally, Atos provides comprehensive support of Lee County’s IT systems, applications, desktop systems, network, and telecommunications systems.
Atos gained new people as full time employees that transferred with the contract to ensure a smooth transition and knowledge transfer.

Atos also assisted Lee County in a platform migration from Novell to Microsoft Windows 2003. This included file server, email, and database conversion. Atos fully tested the solution prior to the cutover to ensure a smooth migration.
The Results
Through the outsourcing relationship and the thought leadership and innovation from Atos, Lee County has saved more than $26 Million over five years in IT costs.
Lee County and Atos work together to govern and administer the strategic IT plan for ongoing development of the County’s IT infrastructure. This collaborative approach helps to ensure the County’s information technology delivers the best service and value to its customers and the 2,500 County employees.
