Computerworld Honors Program Awards Atos Origin Laureate Status
Atos Origin, an international IT services company, today announced that Atos Origin North America has been recognized as a Laureate by the IDG Computerworld Honors Program. For almost two decades, Computerworld Honors has acknowledged those individuals and organizations that have used information technology to benefit society. Atos Origin is one of seven Hitachi customers who were presented the award during the 19th Annual Laureates Medal Ceremony & Gala Awards Evening. Mark Cyran, vice president of managed operations for Atos Origin North America accepted the award on June 4, 2007 at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C.
“The Computerworld Honors Program seeks to recognize organizations, from a variety of sectors, for their ongoing efforts to utilize technology in order to benefit society,” said Bob Carrigan, chairman of the Computerworld Honors Program Chairmen’s Committee and president, IDG Communications. “From supporting electricity systems in the Midwestern US to helping lower power consumption in data centers, Hitachi and its customers are on the leading edge of using information technology to promote positive social, economic and educational change.”
In order to facilitate the high-speed data migration required by its clients, Atos Origin selected Hitachi Data Systems to provide storage solutions that manage its data center storage simply and cost-effectively. By partnering with Hitachi Data Systems, Atos Origin reduced internal storage costs and regained an edge in the highly competitive IT services and consulting space by passing its savings on to customers.
