Atos Origin Successfully Completes its IT Operations
Beijing, 18 September, 2008 - Atos Origin, the Worldwide IT Partner of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), today announced the successful completion of its IT operations for the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games. This follows the Company’s successful and secure implementation of the IT for the Olympic Games, which ended on 24 August. The Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games are a top-level sports event that took place from 6 to 17 September 2008. Almost 4,000 athletes representing 147 countries participated in 20 sports. A total of 5,600 media representatives and more than 1.9 million spectators attended the Games that were made possible by the support and work of over 110,000 Games-related staff and more than 30,000 volunteers.
As the lead technology partner, Atos Origin worked with the IPC, BOCOG and the other IT partners and subcontractors as one team to ensure the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games were a great success. Atos Origin was responsible for all aspects of the smooth and secure running of the Paralympic Games IT from designing and building the systems through to managing all the IT partners and running the critical IT infrastructure and networks, including the immediate distribution of Games results to the world.
Since the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games ended on 24 August, the technology team led by Atos Origin has recovered 8,700 devices, redeployed 130 servers, reimaged and redeployed 360 results devices across all Paralympic Games competition venues and non-competition venues (including out of Beijing venues).
